Please do not refresh while authorities load. Larger regions with more authorities will take longer to load.
Note that some parks which sit along authority boundaries are included in the statistics for each authority overview;
however, these have been deduplicated in the overall regional stats (based on having identical area and names).
Inclusion of a park in an authority area does not imply ownership/responsibility of the Local Authority, nor is it
a guarantee of public access. Authorities are listed alphabetically, with the regional overview provided first.

Number of parks by authority
The exact counts are also available in the results table above. Parks shared by authorities appear in each authority's count.
Park sizes by authority
The box shows the middle 50% of park areas, with a line at the median. The whiskers extend to observations within 1.5 times the interquartile range; points beyond them are outliers. The chart uses a logarithmic area scale.
The table below gives the values used to describe the plot. Parks with missing, zero or negative areas are excluded because the logarithmic scale requires positive values.
Distribution of park types
Parks can have multiple types listed together (e.g., "Park, Recreation Ground"). Types shown as they appear in the data, with formatting cleaned for readability.

Comparative plots
Park type composition by authority
Stacked bar chart showing the number of parks of each type within each authority. This helps identify which authorities have diverse park types vs. those dominated by a single type.
Relationship between park count and mean park area
Scatter plot showing the relationship between the number of parks in an authority (x-axis) and the mean park area (y-axis). This reveals whether authorities tend to have many small parks or fewer large parks.
